We are seeking a research technician for a project aimed at the development of therapeutics for human skin disease. Applicants should have good A-level or equivalent Higher qualification, or a degree in a biological subject (or in the process of the degree). Previous laboratory experience in skin tissue handling, fluorescence and brightfield microscopy and histology (cryosectioning and paraffin wax sectioning).



The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team who are developing new small molecule therapies aimed at dermatological diseases and will work under the day-to-day direction of Drs Robyn Hickerson and Michael Conneely, in the laboratory of Professor Irwin McLean. This position will be for 9-12 months at 20-40% FTE.

Duties will include:

1. Skin sample collection and preparation

2. Tissue sectioning (cryo and paraffin wax)

3. Histology (H&E, antibody staining)

4. Microscopy (brightfield, fluorescence, confocal)

5. Contributing to basic molecular biology and biochemistry core techniques to support a busy laboratory
