LSC maintains a high performance compute cluster of up to 512 64-bit Intel Xeon cores running Linux with an aggregate total of 2TB of RAM, and an associated GPFS parallel filesystem.  This is used to provide large-scale computing resources for research in areas such as bioinformatics, computational chemistry, proteomics, microscopy, medical genetics and NMR spectroscopy.
