FAQs

Where are the instructions for using the AV facilities?

Copies of the printed instructions are available here in Acrobat (PDF) format.

How do I get my laptop to show on an external display?

The specific key combination varies between laptops, but in general, most modern laptops (Mac, Windows, etc.) will auto-sense when an external display is connected. This normally happens at system startup but can also be dynamic when the display is connected.

Alternatively, there is usually a key combination using the Fn key and a corresponding Function key, e.g. Fn-F8 - the key will have an icon of a computer+display or CRT/LCD text, or similar.

How do I log onto the installed PC in the seminar room?

Instructions for the Life Sciences logins that replaced the former Novell-login in November 2008 are here
