- Alloy Tiered Storage - Q2-2012
- Migrated most group shares to Alloy platform.
- Ongoing stability issues with fileserving failover has lead to us disabling the fault tolerance
- We are investigating a file system locking situation with IBM that also causes storage availability issues
- We are also continuing with our plans to migrate from to additional, faster disks to improve performance.
- IBM have identified various defects in the GPFS code that is used in the alloy platform. A roll up release 3.4.0.13, incorporating all fixes is due to ship in May and we will upgrade as soon as practicable.
- 10Gb connections have been purchased for the new server components and we are progressing the installation and testing.
- Migrate SVC to Split Cluster - Q4-2012.
- Relocation of SAN switches to PG2 planned to allow relocation of SVC node to create split site cluster.
- Fibre installed and secondary Storage Array connected via relocated switches
- SVC Code update required - planned for 5th May
- Upgrade TSM Backup Servers to v6.3x - Q2-2012
- Tectrade delivered a pure disk TSM for Virtual Environments (TSM for VE) backup solution Proof of Concept for VMware
- Deployed VIOS virtualisation solution.
- Evaluation of the PoC proved successful so we have decommissioned the VMware Data Recovery backup solution and now use TSM for all backup.
- Upgrade of TMRC/JWC 6500 is required for new TSM hardware in Ninewells - planned May 2012
- Migration of TSM for VE disk pool to TMRC.
- Upgrade Firmware on SAN switches
- Deploy Storage Monitoring
- TPC 5.1 Beta program participation has given us access to a significantly improved storage resource monitoring solution.
- Implement IBM TSM Reports
- Some TSM reporting now in zenoss
- Deploy archive Filesystem using LMF as storage system
- Deprecated in favour of adding HSM to Alloy Storage.
- Migrate LMF backup to use mmbackup which allows backup process to use multiple nodes.
- Evaluating Policy engine to select candidate files for backup.
- Currently backup has been modified to use virtual mount points to parallelise the backup while retaining proper reporting and expiry in TSM.
