Biography
Philip Murray obtained his PhD in Mathematics from Oxford University in 2009.
His post-doctoral work was also in Oxford and examined mathematical models of biological oscillators. In 2012 he took up a permanent position at the University of Dundee.
He works on biologically-motivated modelling problems and is a mathematics lecturer.
Research
He has active research projects across a range of biological application areas that include:
- Developmental patterning
- Hair follicle growth patterns
- DNA repair mechanisms
- HIV virus transcriptional dynamics
- Single cell motion
A common theme across these disparate areas of biology is the use of mathematical models to interpret experimental observations and make quantitative, testable predictions about real biological systems. In order to achieve these aims he uses a range of mathematical tools and collaborates closely with experimental colleagues. Further details can be found in the listed publications
