NSS success for Biological and Biomedical Sciences programmes

23 Jul 2019

Following on from the University wide announcement about Dundee’s overall success in the National Student Survey 2019, further details at the subject level have now been revealed. Our Biological and Biomedical Sciences programmes have again improved in position across our degrees offered through the Schools of Life Sciences and Medicine, recording an increase in overall satisfaction to a new high of 94%.

We have extended the advances made in recent years for all our degree offerings. Looking at individual topic areas, we recorded the best overall satisfaction score for ‘Molecular Biology, Biophysics, and Biochemistry’ in the UK with 100% overall satisfaction. For ‘Pharmacology’, where lower student numbers mean that results are collated over the previous two years, we similarly scored 100% satisfaction.

Out of the 26 questions used to assess different aspects of student satisfaction, Dundee is the equal top in Biology and/or Molecular Biology, Biophysics and Biochemistry in the UK for positive responses to several questions. These include ‘The course is intellectually stimulating’ and ‘I have been able to contact staff when I needed to’.

Professors Julian Blow and Rory McCrimmon, Deans of Life Sciences and Medicine respectively said, “We would like to thank all staff who played a role in contributing to this excellent performance, which reflects the collaborative efforts across the two Schools to enhance the quality of our teaching.”
