Alona Kiricenko

I was born in Latvia, Daugavpils city. At the moment I am a 4th year Biomedical Sciences student and I have chosen the Rocha lab for my honours project because it is a great opportunity to be part of the team and learn more about HIF regulation and its role in cancer. I chose my degree because of my love for elemental things, which have the utmost influence over everything that matters-life!
These three years have aroused my interest in diversity and cultures. I love meeting people from different places and try to learn as many different languages as I can (even if it just to say hello or thank you).
In my spare time I have taken part in many different cultural events performing traditional Indian dance. Apart from studying I have a very active schedule which involves cycling and visiting the gym. Photography and playing the piano are activities that take my mind away from every day life.
