We are seeking to appoint a Senior Chemistry Technician to join our newly established and expanding Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD) based at the University of Dundee. The focus of this new role will be to support the smooth running of CeTPD chemistry laboratory facilities, including shared analytical and compound databases and library suites.

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a well-resourced, seamless working environment for all chemistry staff. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of duties in support of both office and laboratory-based groups and your contributions will directly contribute to the successful progression of our wide-ranging chemistry-based research in the CeTPD. This will be an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing and dynamic new Centre.

Your Role Responsibilities
  • Liaising with the Laboratory Management Team to ensure supplies, and to assist with the development and implementation of Chemical laboratory systems and facilities
  • Monitoring and conducting routine maintenance of laboratory equipment/instrumentation
  • Monitoring stocks of laboratory resources, consumables, solvents, and PPE, restocking and reordering as required
  • Ensuring clean, tidy, and safe work areas
  • Maintaining LC-MS and NMR systems and assisting with method development, method verification/validation, as required
  • Providing analytical troubleshooting support for investigations which require non routine / specialised services
  • Implementing and maintaining a system for CeTPD compound management and chemical databases
  • Using initiative to suggest areas where the efficiency of running the chemistry laboratory can be improved.
  • Perform routine synthetic and analytical chemistry experiments, as per required and following discussion with CeTPD leadership.
  • Qualified to chemistry degree level or have equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience working in a chemistry laboratory.
  • Demonstrated use and maintenance of analytical equipment such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR (extra specialist training can be provided)
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Health and Safety
  • Proficient in the use of databases to maintain accurate records.
