The successful applicant will work as part of a team seeking to tackle some of the world’s most neglected diseases. The role will include analytical method development and ensuring high quality sample analysis for in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies, measurement of physicochemical properties and maintenance and day-to-day running of the bioanalytical laboratory to high standards. The bioanalytical laboratory is well equipped to meet the demands required to support all DMPK assays applied within an early drug discovery setting, with a UPLC Waters Quattro Premier XE, a UPLC Xevo TQs and a UPLC Xevo Qtof. The post is available from 1st February 2012 for two years.
The successful applicant will work within the Drug Discovery Unit DMPK group, as a part of a BioPharma experienced multi-disciplinary team focused on optimising novel compounds identified in the discovery programmes. The post represents a unique opportunity to help further develop drug discovery within an academic setting.
We are seeking candidates with, as a minimum, a degree in Life Sciences or equivalent and at least 3 years experience in bioanalysis and bioanalytical method development. Experience also in metabolite identification would be an advantage.
The Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) (see http://www.drugdiscovery.dundee.ac.uk) is a fully integrated drug discovery operation based within a world class Life Sciences research environment. Its remit is to complement BioPharma activities by tackling both neglected diseases (sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis and malaria) and early stage small molecule validation of novel targets and mechanisms across a range of potential therapeutics areas. The project goals range from quality leads demonstrating disease model proof of concept, through to pre-clinical candidates.
