    As part of the University of Dundee’s Celebrating our Public Engagement event, the University crowned the latest winners of the Stephen Fry Awards for Excellence in Public Engagement. The awards celebrate the people and projects that engage with wider audiences, and the benefits they bring to society. The winners across the three categories were announced by former Rector Stephen Fry:

    A host of fun activities aimed at promoting STEM subjects to girls and young women launches in Dundee today. As part of Dundee Women’s Festival (Friday 5 to Sunday 14 March 2021) and International Women’s Day (Monday 8 March 2021), Dundee Science Centre is teaming up with women scientists at the University of Dundee to promote STEM subjects to younger children.

    Review of the Year 2019 took place today with the Dean, Julian Blow sharing the highlights of activity within the School from 2019. The presentation closed with the annual School prizes presentation. Here are the winners: Innovator of the Year Innovator of the Year is for any member or team within SLS that demonstrably achieved scientific, technical or commercial innovation that came to fruition in 2019.

    A number of school prizes were presented at Review of the Year today. Innovator of the Year New for this year, Innovator of the Year, two categories were introduced for best innovation and for early-stage new business ideas. In partnership with the Centre of Entrepreneurship, the winners are guaranteed an automatic place in the appropriate category of the University of Dundee, Venture 2019 Final, plus a chance to participate in the on-campus three month summer Elevator accelerator programme.

    The School of Life Sciences Prizes were presented today at the Research Symposium in Crieff. Each of the judging panels commented on the high standard and quality of the entries submitted which exemplifies the research excellence and outstanding public engagement taking place in the School.
