Congratulations to Andrew Melvin from Sonia Rocha's Lab who successfully passed his PhD. viva on Thursday the 6th of October. The Title of his thesis was "The role of the chromatin remodeller ISWI in the cellular response to hypoxia" and he presented his research in a seminar earlier the same day. His Internal Examiner Prof Tom Owen-Hughes and his
External Examiner Prof Peter Ratcliffe FRS from the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine in Oxford.
Sonia had this to say about her former student: "Andrew was a very dedicated, talented and technically gifted student, it was always great fun having him in the lab. He took on a very risky and challenging project, attempting to connect hypoxia and chromatin. I am very proud of Andrew's defense in his viva and am sure he will have great success in his future."
