CLS Japanese community raises money for tsunami victims

23 Mar 2011

A bake-sale in aid of Japanese Tsunami disaster fund was held on the morning of the 21st of March in the Atrium of Wellcome Trust Building. Tetsuya Muramoto from Jonathan Chubb’s lab and Etsushi Kitamura from Tomo Tanaka’s lab in GRE organised the event and rallied people from the CLS and Dundee Japanese community to join forces and bake in aid of the victims of the devastating Tsunami that hit the North-east of Japan this year.

The event was a great hit, with queues of people snaking around the Atrium all morning. The organisers extend their thanks to all members of CLS for their warm show of support and contributions. A staggering £3581.55 was raised, the proceeds from which will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross and other non-profit voluntary groups in Japan. And, of course, the cakes were particularly good!
