What can we do for you?
Whether it's help with a public engagement grant section, training, planning an activity or support for evaluation and reflection, the SLS Public Engagement team are here to help!
With a wide range of expertise from academic research and publishing to informal learning and science communication we are here to support your public engagement endeavours.
Regular calls to participate in School-led events are communicated via email. If you want to take part in other events or organise your own, contact us directly or attend one of our monthly drop-in sessions (details below).
If you have participated in an event, please fill out our questionnaire so we can track levels of engagement from staff and students in the School.
There's no need to reinvent the wheel! The team has put together helpful resources to make your public engagement experience as smooth and robust as possible.

Organisational and Professional Development have a programme that runs throughout the academic year. There are a number of workshops (many only a half day in length) which are public engagement related or provide opportunities to learn skills that can translate to public engagement activities. To browse all the courses available and to book a place please visit: www.dundee.ac.uk/opd
If you don’t see a training opportunity that you feel would help you with your participation in public engagement please email us at SLS-PublicEngagement@dundee.ac.uk or come and speak to Amy Cameron, Erin Hardee and Ali Floyd at their monthly public engagement drop-in session on the third Wednesday of the month at 10am in the Street.
University of Dundee Public Engagement Network
The University of Dundee Public Engagement Network is a group of people committed to public engagement. Open to all staff and students who have direct roles in delivering, advising or supporting public and community engagement activity. The Network meets every 6-8 weeks. More information and how to join the Public Engagement Network, check out the UoD Public Engagement website.
Public engagement with research is now a vital part of grant applications. We have collated information that should help with the inclusion of public engagement activities in your grant applications. If the public engagement plans linked with your research are bespoke or you would like to discuss your plans further, please get in touch with us by email as there are many ways that we can support you.
Need funding of less than £100? If you need to pay for items for events or for transport to attend an event you are participating in, apply to the Public Engagement Small Funding Scheme. Applications are taken all year round but need to be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to the event. This scheme is open to SLS staff and students.
Come and speak to Erin Hardee, Ali Floyd, Ailsa Mackintosh and Amy Cameron at our monthly virtual drop-in sessions. These are held at 9:30 am on the third Tuesday of the month.
