Claire joined the Ciulli group as a cell biologist to develop PROTAC technology as part of a collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim. She is from the North East of England and, before moving to Dundee, she trained as a cancer cell biologist at Newcastle University for 8 years. Claire has an MSc in Biomedical Sciences, an MRes in Cell and Molecular Biosciences and a PhD in Cell Signalling. Her MSc project with Dr Christopher Redfern explored the role of cyclooxygenase 2 in neuroblastoma migration and invasion. During her MRes/PhD with Dr Timothy Cheek, she investigated phenotype-specific differentiation responses within neuroblastoma populations and associated changes in the store-operated calcium entry pathway. She joined the AC-BI team to contribute towards developing an exciting new technology into a drug and therefore gain valuable experience of strategies in drug discovery and development as well as exposure to a multidisciplinary research environment. Outside of the lab she has many hobbies including reading, drawing, fitness activities, socialising and exploring the world!
