
Sarath did his bachelor's in Biotechnology from Visveswaraiah Technological University, Karnataka (India). He pursued his Master’s in Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati. He then moved to the National University of Singapore for his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Sivaraman Jayaraman. His Ph.D. research involved characterizing the allosteric inhibition mechanism for a potential cancer drug target, KGA (Kidney isoform of Glutaminase). He also worked extensively towards identifying novel substrates for the ubiquitin E3 ligase Hakai. With an interest in developing further his expertise in structural biology and drug discovery, he moved to Prof. Ciulli’s lab in February 2017 as Post-doctoral Research Scientist. In his free time, Sarath enjoys playing squash, badminton and cricket.
