EMBO Young Investigator Seminar - "Understanding structural principles regulating the ubiquitination machinery "

Event Date:
Thursday, September 19, 2019 - 12:00
Event Location:
Small Lecture Theatre, Medical Sciences Institute, School of Life Sciences
Professor Karim Labib FRSE
Dr. Yogesh Kulathu
Professor Dario Alessi FRS FRSE FMedSci
Event Speaker:
Sonja Lorenz
University of Wurzburg
Event Type:

Sonja studied Biochemistry at the University of Regensburg/Germany and the University of California, Berkeley, and obtained a PhD degree from the University of Oxford. Following her postdoctoral work with John Kuriyan at UC Berkeley, she set up an independent research group at the Rudolf Virchow Center in Wuerzburg/Germany, funded by the Emmy Noether Program of the German Research Foundation. Her lab explores the structural mechanisms of post translational protein modifications with a particular focus on ubiquitin signalling.

Sonja is a member of several national ubiquitin research consortia and a coordinator of a ubiquitin-focused graduate training program in Wuerzburg. She was named an EMBO Young Investigator in 2018.
