Grade 8 (£40,792 - £48,677)

Applications are invited for one or more Principal Investigator (PI) positions from candidates wishing to establish a research group working on any aspect of nuclear function, joining the Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression in Dundee.

The Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression comprises 14 research groups. These groups include over one hundred postdoctoral and postgraduate scientists studying gene expression and genome integrity often making use of excellent core facilities in areas such as imaging, proteomics, genomics stem cell culture and drug discovery.

Successful applicants will be provided with a starting package that includes a defined transition to tenure after 5-6 years. Typically this package would include financial support for relocation expenses, an allocated studentship and for purchase of essential start-up equipment.. We expect applicants to obtain external fellowship support but are able to offer some start-up costs, if required. New researchers are supported by a structured mentoring programme that seeks to provide both project specific advice and guidance on establishing a strategy for long term funding. Combined with access to the research facilities available in Dundee, we believe this provides a very strong platform for the establishment of independent careers.

Applications are anticipated to be postdoctoral researchers seeking to start their first independent research group. Successful applicants will be expected to apply for external research funding, but will be provided with substantial support and guidance in a collaborative working environment.

Applications should include a CV including publications, the names and contact details of 3 academic referees, and a brief summary of future research plans.
