The appointee will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager in the provision of daily support service requirements for approximately 120 research staff working in a multi-disciplinary life science research environment, encompassing organic chemistry, molecular biology and cell biology laboratories.
Technical support service duties include procurement of consumables, assisting in coordinating the maintenance and repair of equipment, monitoring adherence to health and safety policy and procedures, general housekeeping and ensuring the smooth running of the Cell Culture Facilities.
You should have previous laboratory experience and be qualified to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent in a relevant biological science subject. Experience working in a life science academic Higher Education research environment and knowledge of systems, requirements, processes and procedures is desirable. Full training will be provided.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and you must have proven ability to be an effective team member as the post involves working closely supporting research staff and with the wider multidisciplinary support service teams. You will have strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines, and competent IT skills.
