We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join the Division of Gene Regulation and Expression (GRE) in the role of Division Secretary within Life Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to provide comprehensive, efficient administrative support to a number of Research Scientists and Group members. This diverse role would suit an individual who is highly motivated, proactive and who enjoys working within a fast paced environment. Applicants must be able to evidence strong organisational and time management skills along with exceptional communication skills. Applicants should have substantial Secretarial/Administration experience (minimum 3 years in a similar role) and a thorough knowledge of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint etc), email and the www is essential.
This position is part-time (22.5 hours per week) fixed-term for 24 months.

The postholder will report to the Research Administration Lead. The post will be based within the Life Sciences Research Complex on our City Centre Campus.

Your priorities will include:
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to a number of Research Scientists
  • Organise national and international travel requirement, organise itineraries, process travel costs
  • Support and minute Divisional meetings, prepare agendas and relevant papers
  • Organise meetings and events, liaising with external attendees, booking venues, catering and travel
  • Manage multiple relationships simultaneously and facilitate cross-team working

  • A strong communicator and team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to use initiative, anticipate requirements and prioritise workload
  • Demonstrable sensitivity with the ability to manage confidential information effectively
  • A proactive and pre-emptive approach with the ability to identify, analyse and solve problems independently
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education or other similar environment
