Postdoctoral Research Assistant

We are looking for you, an energetic post-doc with excellent molecular biology skills. You are also willing to work hard and take responsibility for the implementation of a genome-scale project. We are offering you a possibility to work on a Drosophila ORFeome project in the laboratory of Dr. Mikael Björklund at the College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee.

We offer you a superb research environment in one of the major life science hubs in UK. Our project is funded by BBSRC and is a part of an international collaboration to generate a genome-scale collection of Drosophila open reading frame clones and transgenic flies expressing these. In this project, you would become highly proficient in high throughput recombination cloning and next generation sequencing.

Informal enquiries can be emailed to Dr. Mikael Björklund (m.bjorklund@dundee.ac.uk).

Candidate Requirements:

• PhD with at least one first authored publication in an internationally recognized peer-reviewed journal.
• Strong experience on molecular biology methods supported by relevant publications
• Experience or interest in next-generation sequencing and other high throughput technologies and data analysis

Additional Information:

The position is for a fixed period of three years starting in the beginning of May 2012. Applicants are expected to have, or to obtain shortly, a PhD. Appropriate training will be provided for you to extend your current skills and expertise.

The Division of Cell and Developmental Biology to which our laboratory belongs has world-class strengths in vertebrate, Drosophila and Dictyostelium development as well as epithelial cell biology, real-time imaging and systems biology approaches including biophysical and mathematical modeling (for further information, see our divisional web page http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/research/cdb).
