Dr Robyn Hickerson and her team won the Research Staff Award at Venture 2019 competition hosted by the University of Dundee’s Centre of Entrepreneurship. The final involved pitching budding business ideas to an expert panel of judges with the chance to share in a £27,500 prize fund.
A number of school prizes were presented at Review of the Year today.
Innovator of the Year
New for this year, Innovator of the Year, two categories were introduced for best innovation and for early-stage new business ideas. In partnership with the Centre of Entrepreneurship, the winners are guaranteed an automatic place in the appropriate category of the University of Dundee, Venture 2019 Final, plus a chance to participate in the on-campus three month summer Elevator accelerator programme.
A NERC-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Geomicrobiology group of Prof. G.M. Gadd in the School of Life Sciences in Dundee, Scotland. The project is within a large multi-institute NERC consortium grant concerned with the Geology, Geometallurgy and Geomicrobiology of Cobalt Resources. You will be working in the general area of fungal geomicrobiology to understand the natural biogeochemistry of cobalt, and the application of bioprocessing for cobalt extraction and recovery.
