hESCs and hiPSCs are grown in a defined feeder free culture system that allows for scalable production of undifferentiated cells, cultures are passaged as single cells allowing seeding densities to be precisely controlled. In addition, cells can be cultured on feeder cells and manually passaged if single cell enzymatic passage is not desired. Cell lines currently available from the facility:

The parental fibroblast cells from which ChiPS 4 was derived are also available.
Cells are supplied from large well characterised banks to ensure dependable supply of cells with low levels of background differentiation and high differentiation potential. Cells undergo rigourous quality control and are checked for uniform expression of pluripotency markers (Oct4, Sox2, Nanog, SSEA-3, SSEA-4, TRA-1-60, TRA-1-81), absence of the early differentiation marker SSEA-1, and potential to differentiate into cell types representative of the three embryonic germ layer in vitro (ß-III-tubulin, smooth muscle actin, HNF-3 ß).
