The Centre for Advanced Scientific Technologies has evolved in partnership with the University’s demanding research programs in physics, medicine and the life sciences. The role of the Centre is to enable researchers to address the most challenging scientific questions and to advance the development of highly-specialised research tools across disciplines.
We have a system of Academic Oversight and Executive Management delivering:
- highly specialised technology: by recruiting dedicated, experienced staff who ensure that equipment is properly specified, developed and maintained and that academic staff can concentrate on research rather than technology development
- efficient management of equipment: by ensuring that specialised and expensive technology is available to all staff on an equal basis
- training and support for research staff throughout their project: in many cases, Centre staff play a significant role in the design of experiments and development of projects
- a forum for interaction between staff across groups and divisions: this facilitates knowledge transfer and provides a catalyst for collaborative research
