As concerns about the environment take a more central place in modern life, research in Environmental Biology is of increasing importance and influence to national and international agencies and within the public and private sector.
Taught as a joint degree between the university of Dundee and St. Andrews University the MRes in Environmental Biology provides biologists with the essential techniques and quantitative skills for a career in environmental research. The course is based upon the internationally recognised and complementary research strengths of the College of Life Sciences, the University of Dundee, the School of Biology and the Centre for Research into ecological and Environmental Modelling at the University of St. Andrews and the Scottish Crop Research Institute.
Along with the compulsory module Basic Concepts in Ecology and Evolution you will be able to choose three from six advanced knowledge modules:
Students will also take a series of modules in core research skills and practical training in all of the steps that underpin good research:
You will be given the opportunity to apply these tools in a substantial research project within a major Research group at Dundee or St. Andrews.
