EASTBIO BBSRC DTP Studentships

About the DTP

EASTBIO is a partnership between the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and St Andrews; The Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance (SULSA); and the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA).  The Partnership was created in response to the establishment of BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTP) to provide PhD training in areas of strategic relevance to the BBSRC.  The EASTBIO Partnership will appoint 35 PhD students to start in October 2012.  The DTP scheme will provide students with excellent cross-disciplinary research training in line with the current BBSRC strategy for research support and training.

Our overarching aim is to develop a unified, cutting edge training curriculum for postgraduate research students, that will equip our students both to undertake world-class research projects and for their future employment needs.  Our proposed programme will cover the three main priority areas identified in the BBSRC's Strategic Plan - Food Security, Bioenergy and Industrial Biotechnology, and Basic Bioscience Underpinning Health - as well as other world-class bioscience, and will provide state-of-the-art training in the BBSRC Core Skills areas, emphasising new ways of working.
