The College of Life Sciences offers a number of postgraduate studentships (see links on left).
A number of these programmes (Wellcome Trust 4-year, MRC 4-year and CRUK 4-year Programmes) provide students with an opportunity to carry out rotation projects during their first year in a broad range of research laboratories before the final choice of project and supervisor is made.
The newly established BBSRC East of Scotland Doctoral Training Partnership offers an exciting opportunity to undertake 4-year PhD projects in the College of Life Sciences.
Each of the 8 research divisions within the College of Life Sciences offer projects across a wide range of disciplines.each have PhD programmes that offer projects within each discipline. For clinicians, there is a new and exciting Wellcome Trust-funded 3 year PhD Programme.

The Dundee Cancer Centre offers a 4 year PhD programme in cancer within the College of Life Sciences and the College of Medicine Dentistry and Nursing as well as a 3 year PhD programme in cancer for clinicians.
The Medical Research Council and the University of Dundee have obtained renewed funding from July 2012-2016 for the Division of signal Transduction Therapy (DSTT) for a number of 4-year PhD projects. Applications for the PhD Studentship positions should be submitted through the MRC Protein Phosphorylation website. Studentships may start any time between July 2012 and October 2013.
The A*Star PhD Programme is an integrated 4 year research programme in which students spend two years in Dundee and two more in Singapore. Please note that this programme is restricted to Singaporeans, Singaporean Permanent Residents, and nationals of ASEAN countries.
The CAPES Dundee project invites eligible Brazilian students to apply for a 4-year PhD in the laboratory of their choice within the College of Life Sciences. 10 PhD studentships are available.
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at a UK institution in any field of study.

PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS FOR CAPES AND MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIPS MUST APPLY DIRECTLY TO THESE FUNDING BODIES - CLICK ON RELEVANT LINKS FOR DETAILS. In general, applicants with broad research interests may be best suited to the Wellcome Trust 4 year PhD Programme whereas those with more specific research interests may be more suitable for divisional PhD programmes. If your application is selected you will be invited to interview and meet with several representatives from each programme you are being interviewed for. Where possible these are matched to your research interests so it is important that you can name three or four supervisors from each Programme you apply to.
