CAPES PhD Programme (Brazil)

The CAPES PhD programme is an initiative to send Brazilian students to study science, technology, engineering, medicine and the creative industries at the world's best universities.

The School of Life Sciences has entered into a partnership with CAPES and already hosts Brazilian students under this programme. Applicants can apply for any project currently offered within the School of Life Sciences.

The key elements of the programme consist of:

  • PhD projects in laboratories run by internationally-renowned scientists
  • structured training and mentoring programme
  • full access to “Generic Skills” courses
  • financial support consisting of
    • stipend for the grantee’s maintenance of £1300 per month
    • settling allowance, one-off payment £1300
    • international return air ticket (1706 USD)
    • additional support is available for any dependants

The University of Dundee will waive the tuition and other academic fees normally required by the University.

All research students present their work regularly, including at the annual School Symposium and at cohort-based retreats.
