I gained both my BSc and MSc degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. During my MSc I spent one year training in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics: my project focused on the human tyrosine phosphatase SHP-2. After graduation I was awarded an AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research) Fellowship in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics, where I had the opportunity to obtain more lab experience.
I decided to apply to the Wellcome Trust PhD Programme here at the College of Life Sciences because of its good reputation, the excellent facilities available and the stimulating international environment. The Programme also provides us the possibility to try different research areas and labs before choosing a final project to work on.
Currently, I am rotating in Professor Angus Lamond’s lab in the Gene Regulation and Expression unit, where I am applying a quantitative proteomics approach to study the expression of proteins at different stages of the cell cycle.
