Laure Verrier a postdoctoral researcher in Elizabeth Bayne’s Lab has been awarded a prestigious EMBO Long-term Fellowship. Laure joined the Bayne Lab as a postdoc in November 2011, having obtained her PhD in Toulouse, France, studying the role of a histone demethylase in regulation of gene expression in mammalian cells.
The EMBO Long-Term Fellowship will enable Laure to continue her current research employing fission yeast as a model organism to investigate how transcriptionally repressive heterochromatin is confined to distinct chromosomal domains. This research will provide a better understanding of the mechanisms that define patterns of gene expression across eukaryotic chromosomes.
