This year’s Discovery Day event is a tremendous opportunity to hear some of our newly-appointed professors talk for 15 minutes each about their area of work. It’s also a great snapshot of some the leading edge research in the University.
The day is broken up into discrete sessions with three or four speakers and questions, with breaks between sessions for coffee, tea and lunch – all refreshments provided.
This is an excellent opportunity for all staff to find out what’s happening within and outside their disciplines, Schools and Colleges – and interesting collaborative opportunities have been identified during these events in the past. And it’s extremely useful for any staff with an external facing role. It is also a great chance for colleagues in Directorates to find out more about the University’s academic work.
The Stephen Fry award for public engagement will also be announced – and the whole event finishes with a wine reception.
