    Mail from Sunday has been queuing on the mailserver. We have cleared the blockage and the queues are now draining OK.

    We had a problem overnight with the LMF and OMX file servers that may have resulted in a service outage for Windows and Mac users. We have restarted the filesharing services and all appears to be OK. Please accept our apologies for this service interruption.

    We had reports that the pipeline pilot server was not responding to requests so we have restarted the web server component and all appears well.

    The replacement certificate for the Filemaker service has now been installed and is working. This is valid until 2013 so there should not be any further security errors when connecting to this service. 25/06/2010 16:51 - The current SSL certificate for Filemaker web access expires tomorrow 26/06/2010. A replacement certificate has been issued but it is not working with the server, so you may see certificate errors from tomorrow onwards. We are working on resolving this issue and will add more information here when it is available.

    It would appear that one of the Post Offices, LS-S3-PO, that serves mail to the College is offline. The Post Office appears to serve BCDD staff. We have contacted ICS and let them know and will keep this page updated with further information.

    In our usual maintenance window we will be relocating the following database servers to the main set of virtual servers. This is in preparation for deploying hardware for both file serving and further virtual server capacity. The following services are affected :

    We have resolved an issue with one of the TSM servers being unable to access the disk array via the alternate path and have logged a call with IBM to ascertain the reasons for the failover. So far all looks OK. We have a couple of disks that are used for our virtual machine storage that have been moved onto the alternate path so we will try to ascertain what caused that.

    TSM Server instances now up and running and are being released back to production. Thanks for watching :) OSPF work completed OK and verified functional TSM instances. Primary TSM DB and Log volumes set to Ninewells DS34. Network ACLs being loaded and then final reboot. Server booted and FC connectivety OK. Porting the OSPF config to the 6500 in TMRC. Arrived on site and reracked server.

    Researchers at the University of Dundee studying how cells control the output of specific genes have been awarded £2.8million in grants by the Wellcome Trust, the UK’s largest medical research charity. Dr Joost Zomerdijk, based in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression at the College of Life Sciences, has been awarded £1.1million and Professor Jeff Williams, also based at the College of Life Sciences, has been given £1.7million.

    Whilst in Dundee as part of her summer tour programme, the Minister visited the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee, which is marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dundee's pioneer of life sciences, Professor Sir D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson.
