Daniel Bandarra

I am originally from Portugal (Lisbon) and I have recently joined the Rocha lab on the Graduate Program in Areas of Basic and Applied Biology (GABBA), a 4 year PhD fellowship funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) from the University of Porto.

I obtained both my undergraduate and masters degrees in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon (FCUL). During my master degree I had the priviledge to be part of the theoretical chemistry group, where I started my scientific career. As a GABBA PhD student I chose the Rocha lab to develop my thesis work. The focus of my PhD is the study of HIF in inflammation-mediated tumour progression.

I my free time, I love sports. I played Handball for several years and nowadays I practice Aikido and football whenever I can. I also like to paint and cook, especially deserts, where I create new recipes and combine new flavours.
