Introduction

Sarah Coulthurst is a Principal Investigator in the College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee, UK. The SJC research group was established in October 2009, as part of the expanding Division of Molecular Microbiology.

The aim of our research is to learn how bacterial pathogens are able to cause disease. This should provide both a better understanding of basic biological processes and, ultimately, contribute to novel therapeutic antimicrobial strategies.

Our interest centres on how bacterial pathogens are able to interact and interfere with host organisms and other bacterial cells, particularly through the use of protein secretion systems.
