Daniel Hain
Daniel Hain

Post Doctoral Fellow - Daniels stamping ground is sub-cellular. If he`s not taking pictures with the confocal microscope he uses his DSLR to investigate Scotlands flora and fauna.

Alistair Langlands

Graduate Student (Wellcome Trust 4 Year fellow) - Before joining the lab, I did my undergraduate degree in Genetics at the University of Glasgow. I am working on the dop phenotype, and am involved in looking for its binding partners and investigating the molecular nature of wing and chorion defects found in dop mutants. Outside the lab, I play hockey and am interested in hillwalking.

Daniel Mariyappa
Daniel Mariyappa

Postdoc - Daniel graduated at the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore, under supervision of Prof. P. Seshagiri. Daniel combines genetics and biochemistry to address the function of novel players in FGF-signalling and mesoderm spreading. When not in the lab he is entertaining his son Rishabh together with his wife Lalitha.

Olivia Monteiro
Olivia Monteiro

Postdoc - Olivia graduated in Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology) at the University of Aberdeen and did a PhD on the "Mechanisms of Dendritic Peptide Release" at the University of Edinburgh. In continuing her scientific career as a post doctoral researcher Olivia decided to switch from neurobiology to Drosophila developmental genetics.

VillÕ
Villo

Post Doctoral Fellow - VillÕ moved from Budapest to Dundee and switched her subject of research from uracil to E-cadherin. Outside the lab, she explores munroes and practices tai chi.

Ryan Webster
Ryan Webster

Lab Manager and research assistant - Ryan is our 'man for everything' with excellent connections to everyone. Ryan is involved in all projects in the laboratory. Ryan teaches us the essentials about life in Scotland and he likes to play golf. In his free time Ryan enjoys family life with his wife Claire, their daughter Lucy and their son Finn. Ryan likes the Football, both on the field himself and on the stands in Tannadice.

Alumni Dundee

Margarethe Draga
Margarethe Draga

Graduate Student (BBSRC fellow) - Maggy moved from Dusseldorf with us after a Diplomathesis in Prof. E. Knust's laboratory. She tries to understand the role of Pbl by identifying genetic modifiers using EMS screens. When not pushing flies or fixing embryos, Maggy enjoys Dundee and improves her Badminton skills.

Maggy is now a postdoc with Prof. Kevin Hiom

Katja Labitzke
Katja Lambitzke

Lab Student - Katja is a Leonardo Da Vinci project students from the University of Potsdam in Germany.

Anna Klingseisen 2004-2010
Anna Klingseisen

Postdoctoral Research in the laboratory of Dr.Andrew Jackson at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, University of Edinburgh. Jackson Lab

Graduate Student - Anna, a long standing member in the laboratory moved with us from Dusseldorf. Her thesis investigates the functions of two FGF8-like ligands by loss and gain of function experiments. Despite being too cold for Anna, she appears to love Scotland.
