High Performance Computing
Modern developments in gene regulation research, including developments in proteomics, microscopy and DNA sequencing, are producing ever larger quantities of data. Maximizing the benefits of these large quantities of data provides new challenges that molecular biologists have not typically been trained to meet. The GRE Centre is committed to developing new ways of exploiting the large amounts of data produced by its research.
Dr Jonathan Monk is Head of the High Performance Computing Service, which is responsible for maintaining reliable and secure data networking, storage, and computational infrastructure for CLS. In addition to supporting Dr Monk directly, the GRE Centre also funds 2 other key staff in the High Performance Computing Service. The state-of-the-art computing infrastructure built and maintained by Dr Monk and his team allows us to continue to explore appropriate new technologies for the acquisition, analysis, storage and dissemination of our work.
