GRE Proteomics
The Wellcome Trust Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression has strong links with the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Facility located at the College of Life Sciences.
Professor Angus Lamond is an international expert in using SILAC technology for the quantitative analysis of proteins by mass spectrometry. In addition, Professors Blow, Hay and Swedlow are involved in major proteomics projects funded by CR-UK and BBSRC.
The aim of the facility is to provide a state of the art Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry capability to researchers at the University of Dundee and to external academic and industrial clients.
The facility has a strong track record in proteomics, particularly the use of quantitative proteomics and the identification of protein modifications. It operates 7 mass spectrometers with 3 support staff and offers a range of mass spectrometry and proteomics services, including MS-MS analysis of proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, oligosaccharides and small molecules by MS-MS for simple targets or by LC-MS-MS for complex mixtures.
The Centre funding also allowed us to set up a new support group in proteomics to train researchers in advanced quantitative proteomics methods
