Event Location:

Professor Grahame Hardie FRS, FRSE, FMedSci
Event Speaker:
Professor Jorgen Jensen
Department of Physical Performance Norwegian School of Sports Sciences
Event Type:
SUMMARY: Jorgen Jensen’s research group study aspects of performance in endurance athletes, as well as the effect of exercise on insulin sensitivity and metabolic regulation in healthy and insulin-resistant subjects. His research has focused on the signalling mechanisms for contraction-stimulated glucose uptake, and how exercise improved insulin action, and has shown that glycogen concentration in skeletal muscle plays an important role in regulation of insulin action. Current research include studies on the mechanisms that determine glycogen content in skeletal muscles. Jorgen is on the Editorial Boards of the American Journal of Physiology, Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry, and the Biochemical Journal. He is a former handball player and was assistant coach for the Norwegian National Team in Female Handball.
